NGO registration in India - An overview
Non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) are also known as Non-Profit Organizations (NPO’s). An NGO is a non-profit organization that works with the government to implement a cultural, educational, religious, or social program. According to the most common understanding of the status, NGOs are engaged in a wide range of activities only for the benefit of society. All non-profit organizations in India, including Trusts, Societies, and Section 8 Companies, are referred to as NGOs. Sangh, Sangam, and Sangathan are three comparable non-profit organisations. Non-profit organizations are not required to pay income taxes.
Things to Do – Before Applying for NGO Registration
Get a Certificate of Digital Signature (DSC)
Proposed directors are required to produce Digital Signatures since registration paperwork must be digitally signed before they can be filed online. Digital Signature Certificates are issued by certifying bodies within the Government of India (DSC). Applicants must receive a DSC in either the Class 2 or Class 3 category. The cost of getting a DSC varies and is determined by the certifying organization.
Make an application for a Director Identification Number (DIN)
The intended directors of the firm must apply for a DIN. The completion of Form DIR-3 aids in the assignment of a DIN number. Along with the application form, scanned documents such as self-attested copies of PAN, identification, and address proof of directors must be supplied. On the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) website, you may fill out an application form and submit it online. A practicing chartered accountant, company secretary, or cost accountant is necessary to attest to the documents.
